Ingredients

  • 2 lbs fresh whole mushrooms white, cremini or baby bella mushrooms can be used
  • 1 cup dry white wine
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 Tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 Tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • Optional: Additional butter fresh parsley for serving

Instructions

  • Clean and dry the mushrooms.
  • Place it in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  • Pour white wine over mushrooms.
  • Place a stick of butter on top of the mushrooms.
  • Sprinkle the Italian seasoning, salt and pepper over the mushrooms, butter and wine.
  • Cover and cook on low for 3 hours.
  • Transfer to a serving dish. If desired, toss in additional butter and top with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Using Sliced Mushrooms. Sliced mushrooms can be used but cooking time likely needs to be reduced and the flavor of sauce may be more intense.
  • Dry Your Mushrooms. Mushrooms already hold a lot of water so removing excess water from rinsing will help the end result be more flavorful.
  • More Flavorful Mushrooms. Baby bella or cremini mushrooms have more flavor than white button mushrooms.
  • Storing: Store leftovers in the fridge for up to three days in an airtight container. I do recommend freezing them. Reheat them in a skillet on the stove over medium heat or in the microwave in 30 second intervals.
  • Repurpose Leftovers: Crockpot mushrooms can also be sliced or chopped up and added to casseroles, sauces, pasta, or stuffed into quesadillas.
