Ingredients to make Halloween Smoothie Bowls bowls of berries and star sprinkles.
  • Blueberries and strawberries: You can use fresh if available but also frozen will work just as well
  • Frozen bananas: Frozen bananas are what give the smoothie bowl it's super creamy texture and it's a great way to use up bananas that are on the older side. You can even do this in advance and keep them on hand to make smoothies and smoothie bowls.
  • Milk: Use regular dairy milk or sub in your favorite plant milk
  • Honey: For a vegan option, you can substitute agave or maple syrup! You can even use sugar to sweet your smoothies, but be sure to use Dixie Crystals.
  • Greek yogurt: Greek yogurt (regular or vegan) is a better option than regular yogurt when making a Halloween smoothie bowl since it adds more thickness!
  • Smoothie bowl toppings: Fresh banana slices, kiwi, fresh berries, chia seeds, star sprinkles and plastic spiders are excellent options!

Equipment You Need to Make

Of course you will need a good blender, one that will be able to blend up the frozen smoothie bowl mixture which is on the thicker side of a regular smoothie.

How to Make Halloween Smoothie Bowls

Making a healthy Halloween Smoothie has never been easier!

You will first want to start by putting your berries, bananas, milk, and honey into the blender.

If needed add 1-2 Tablespoons of milk slowly to get the desired consistency that you want. Smoothie bowl recipes are meant to be a little thicker so that you can eat them with a spoon.

When the smoothie is blended, pour it into the bowl you are using to serve it!

Piping the Spider Web

This is the fun part!

Put the Greek yogurt in a small ziplock bag and cut a very small piece off the corner.

In the middle of the smoothie bowl, make a small circle with your yogurt. Make 3 more larger circles around the first one.

Starting with the smallest circle, drag a straw or knife outward to create a web.

Once you've got the web in place, garnish your Halloween smoothie with banana slices, kiwi, fresh berries, chia seeds, star sprinkles.

Don’t forget the plastic spiders to the extra Halloween touch!

Halloween Smoothie Bowl Expert Tips and FAQS

Add milk slowly: Start with 3 Tablespoons of milk for this Halloween smoothie recipe. It's important to keep the mixture as thick as possible, to enable the fruit to sit up top without sinking.

It's ok to sub in frozen berries: If you don’t have fresh berries you can always use frozen berries. You can use 2 cups of frozen berries, this will have less seeds as well.

Greek yogurt is the perfect yogurt for making the web pattern. It's thick consistency that allows it to sit on the top of your smoothie bowl really nicely.  But you can also use: regular yogurt, whipped topping or icing

Use frozen bananas: This is the trick to a perfect creamy and delightful smoothie bowl!

Are smoothie bowls healthy?

Yes, smoothie bowls are a healthy breakfast or snack option when compared to other foods. Here's why!

*Berries are loaded with antioxidents
*Bananas are packed with potassium and help you feel full longer
*Greek yogurt adds protein to your bowl
*Chia seeds have fiber, iron and omega 3’s

Can I store leftovers?

If you aren’t able to enjoy your Halloween smoothie right away you can keep it in the fridge for 1 to 2 days. You will want to keep it in a mason jar with the lid sealed to keep it fresh. It's going to be a bit more liquid since it's not frozen but you can serve it as a drinkable smoothie or blend it up with some ice or a few more bananas or berries to thicken it up.

Can I make this in advance?

Yes! Smoothie bowls are always better fresh, but you can make this in advance and store in the refrigerator. I recommend waiting to pipe on the spider web until just before you are about to serve.
