What is the best white chocolate for dipping strawberries?
These Ghirardelli melting chocolates are my favorite to work with when making fruit dipped desserts but the Ghiradelli baking bar works really nice too. I have also used white chocolate chips before too. Whatever you use, make sure it is quality!

How to Make Dipped White Chocolate Strawberries
This easy dipped white chocolate strawberries recipe takes just a few minutes of prep time so let's get started.
The most important part of this white chocolate strawberries recipe is preparing your work area and berries.
To prepare the working area, line a baking sheet with parchment paper. You can also use wax paper if desired.
Tip: Using a baking sheet or a tray will allow you to move the chocolate covered fruit around easier.
Fruit must be clean, room temperature and completely dry before dipping. Strawberries are super juicy, that is what makes us love it so much! However, it is important the strawberries are completely dry and room temperature before dipping.
You can use a paper towel or cloth to do the majority of the work, then I like to let them sit out and air dry for a bit as well.

Set the fruit aside and prepare the chocolate according to the package directions.
I love these Ghirardelli melting chocolates for dipping fruit! To melt the chocolate, microwave it in 15-second bursts, stirring well between each round. This helps the chocolate melt evenly and prevents it from overheating or burning.

Once the chocolate is melted, it’s time to dip your strawberries!
Hold each strawberry by the stem and dip it into the white chocolate, covering as much or as little as you like. I love leaving a bit of the red strawberry peeking out so you can see the fruit underneath, but feel free to coat the entire berry if you prefer a fully chocolate-covered look.

After dipping, lay them out on the parchment-lined tray to harden up.

Once the first layer of chocolate has set, you can optionally go back with a piping bag or spoon to drizzle a second layer on top. This step adds a pretty, elegant touch without taking much extra time.
If you’re using melting chocolate, it should start to firm up within a few minutes. Once the chocolate is completely set, you can transfer the strawberries to a serving tray—or enjoy them straight off the parchment!
Variations
Strawberries with chocolate are simple and delicious on their own, but if you want to take things up a notch, try these fun variations for a unique twist.
- Change up the chocolate: Mix things up with white, milk, or dark chocolate for your strawberries—or make a platter with all three for a beautiful variety.
- Play with the presentation: Instead of leaving them whole, try slicing the strawberries in half before dipping for a different look and bite-sized treat.
- Strawberries on a stick: Everyone loves a dessert you can grab and go! Skewer the strawberries for an easy, portable treat that’s perfect for parties.
- Add some toppings: Sprinkle on crushed nuts, toasted coconut, or mini chocolate chips while the chocolate is still soft for an extra decadent touch.
How to Store White Chocolate Strawberries
You can store these dipped white chocolate strawberries in the refrigerator in an air tight container.
If you are giving them as a gift or Valentines surprise, I like to deliver them as soon as they are set and instruct the receiver to store them in the fridge. That way, they aren't changing temperatures too often.
How Long Will White Chocolate Strawberries Last?
When properly stored in the fridge they will last 2-3 days.
If you love frozen treats, you can also freeze them for a few months. They won’t thaw perfectly, but they make a delicious frozen snack—almost like a chocolate-covered strawberry popsicle!

Dipped White Chocolate Strawberries
Ingredients
- 12 Strawberries
- 6 ounces White Chocolate
- 1 teaspoon oil coconut, vegetable, canola or shortening
Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- Place the white chocolate and oil in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 20–30 second intervals, stirring between each, until fully melted and smooth.
- Hold each strawberry by the stem and dip it into the melted white chocolate, swirling gently to coat. Let excess chocolate drip back into the bowl.
- Place the dipped strawberry onto the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining strawberries.
- Optional: Once the first layer is set, use a spoon or piping bag to drizzle a second layer of chocolate for a decorative touch.
- Allow the strawberries to set at room temperature or refrigerate for about 20 minutes until the chocolate is firm.
- Once fully set, transfer to a serving tray or enjoy straight off the parchment.
Notes
- Keep strawberries dry: Any moisture can make the chocolate seize or not stick properly.
- Use a little oil: A teaspoon of neutral oil helps the white chocolate melt smoothly.
- Optional drizzle: Add a second chocolate drizzle with a spoon or piping bag for a pretty, professional look.
- Storage: Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, or freeze for a fun frozen treat.
- Make ahead: Dip strawberries shortly before serving to keep them fresh and juicy.
